The festival season is on. Though the unprecedented floods in
some States, due to late monsoon, wreaked havoc, the
traditional festivals like `Navarathri' and `Diwali' managed to put some cheer back on the faces of the people. The celebrations, though muted, are nevertheless on. There is cheer from another front too. The top corporate houses in the country, with iconic status, have all posted more than impressive quarterly results. This has had such an impact on the economy that the government is already talking in terms of revising the growth targets upwards. As we had mentioned in our earlier issues, India appears to have been least affected by the global recession, due to its strong fundamentals and excellent financial discipline. Even then, the recovery from whatever effects that the meltdown has had, has been amazingly smart. All in all, there is widespread optimism, which is also palpable when our alumni members participated in all the events and shared their views on the economic outlook. This buoyancy is also noticeable in the articles and views presented in this issue.
As always, our members have been generous both in terms of quality and quantity in their literary contribution to this issue. `How to Manage Our Time' by Jaswinder Singh (MBA 2007) throws some new light on this oft-repeated theme. `Plan Your Investment in Equities' by Nitin Gabhane (MBA 2008) is a timely article full of valuable suggestions for those who would like to pursue this investment option. Dipak Soni (MBA 2007) reveals the `secrets of a magician' in his interesting `expose'. What Ankur Vyas (MBA 2008) conveys in his detailed coverage of his relentless quest for entry into the civil service, is truly inspiring `a dream realized.'
In the last issue, we had introduced a new column: `Famous One Liners', which has been welcomed by all sections. It continues with insight into some more great minds of our time. In this issue, we are launching another useful new feature on `Quotes To Remember', with particular relevance to management students.
The issue covers the various events like the CEC Meets at Noida and Panchkula, the Reunion Meets at Vijayawada, Warangal, Mumbai-Vashi and Rohtak, a Career Visioning Workshop at Bhubaneshwar, a reunion of INCAS Nagpur Chapter members and a joyful picnic organized by the members of the INCAS Lucknow Chapter. Besides, we also have the other regular sections like Reminiscences, Professional Progress, Book Shelf, Blissful Bonding, etc to complete the fare.
We sincerely hope that you will enjoy browsing through the issue and give us your valuable feedback to help us in our constant endeavor to improve your INCAS Network.
Happy Reading!
