We are very happy to present to our readers a different kind of interview – an interview with an MBA couple who, individually, are enjoying successful managerial careers. What is more, both of them are INC products. They did their MBA at INC Jabalpur during 2005-07. Yes, an INC alumni couple. Read on….

Thank you Kavish Khosla and Priyanka for giving us an opportunity to talk to you together. It is not often that both the husband and wife are from the alumni group of the same institution. How did it happen in your case?

In our case, we were good friends at the college and were quite compatible with each other. So, we decided why not to spend our whole life together.

Did you discuss your individual career ambition and preparations even while you were in INC?

Yes, we did discuss our careers with each other as we were both conscious about our jobs and future.

Tell us something about your careers so far.

Priyanka: I started my career in Indore with Jetking Hardware Institute as a counselor and then shifted to IMI (Indore Management Institute) as a Faculty Associate. Then I came to Jabalpur and joined Gyan Ganga Institute as a lecturer and I really like my job. Kavish: Bajaj Allianz was my first organization where I worked as a Relationship Officer and then shifted to Berger Paints as a Prolongs Manager. My future plan is to have my own business for which I am working hard.

Do you adopt similar or different methods in tackling stress situations at your work and do you discuss these with each other?

Priyanka: Yes, we do discuss the stress situations of our jobs daily at our dinner table, but our ways of tackling these are totally different. Kavish has a cool nature. So, he handles the things easily, whereas, I am short tempered, so it’s hard for me to tackle things…

Do you discuss work situations/problems at home? In this context, does it help both being MBAs? Are both of you able to appreciate each other’s work pressures better because of your similar academic background?

Yes, we do discuss our work problems at home and even try to solve them taking each other’s help. It really helps when your partner is also from the same field and background, so it is with us, both being MBAs. We do understand each other’s work pressure, as both of us have long working hours and work pressure.

How do you balance your work and family life?

Priyanka: It’s hard to balance both the things, especially for me as I have to handle both office and home but with the support of my husband, I manage to do things well.

How do you spend your leisure time?

We hardly get free time as both of us have busy schedules, but whenever we get leisure time we usually freak out or spend time with our common friends.

Are you in touch with your INC friends? Do you have common INC friends?

Yes, we are in touch with our INC friends. We do have common friends circle as both of us are from the same institute.

Do you have any special advice for other ‘MBA couples’?

Live life full …enjoy to the fullest as these days won’t be back ever…

What are your plans for the future?

Priyanka: Both of us want to be entrepreneurs. We are looking forward to having our own business, where I would like to assist him.
